Ken Hughes

Lead Pastor

My family moved to Hartsville in 2001 from the Dallas Ft. Worth area. There, I worked as a bench jeweler where I custom made jewelry for 13 years before being called to full time ministry.

I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000 with a Master’s degree in Christian Education. I also graduated from Luther Rice Seminary in 2005 with a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling. I am blessed to be married to my wife Sonya now for 30 years. We have three wonderful children, Jordan, Connor and Braelynn and I love watching them grow up. Sonya and I are also the happy grandparents to our granddaughter Estelle!

I began my ministry at Lakeview in 2001 as the student and recreation minister before being called to the lead pastor position in 2013. My passion in ministry is found in the words Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:12. Paul’s words tell me that it is a pastor’s responsibility is “to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” I take that responsibility seriously and strive to keep Paul’s words in front of the Lakeview Family.

The vision that I encourage the Lakeview Family to live out is to “Follow Jesus completely and share His love authentically fulfilling the Great Commandment and Great Commission.”

I have a personal goal of seeing how many times a day I can eat at Chick-fil-a.

Kimberly Bastean

Director of Children's Ministries

I grew up in Olive Branch, MS, where I met my wonderful husband of 17 years, Josh. We moved to Hartsville in 2012, and I attended Coker University where I earned my BA in Graphic Design. We have been blessed with 3 amazing children: Zoë, Jacob, and Maggie.

I served on the Lakeview Children’s Team for 2 years under Deborah’s leadership, and when she transitioned to Director of Missions, God called me to continue ministering as the Children’s Director. I love working with kids and watching them grow in their relationship with the Lord and each other.

Deborah Guest

Missions Mobilizer

I grew up around ministry with my parents as missionaries in South Korea. I came to Hartsville as a result of marrying my husband, Frank, a Hartsville native. We are the parents for four grown children-Carie, Lindsay, Connor and Lane. We are the proud grandparents to our granddaughter, Elora. Frank and I have been members of Lakeview since 1999.

I am a teacher by trade and taught in Charleston and then at North Hartsville Elementary. In 2013, I began working part-time at Lakeview while finishing out a year at NHE. In 2014, I came on staff full-time directing our children’s ministries and our weekday preschool. I have now transitioned into the roll of heading up our women’s and missions ministries. If you are looking for me during the week or on Sundays, the education building is your best bet.

Hannah McCain

Director of Music and Worship

I am a native to Hartsville, South Carolina and Lakeview Baptist Church. After graduating from Clemson University, I spent some time in the corporate world before taking on marriage and motherhood full time. I have been a leader on Lakeview’s worship team since 2013 and began my ministry as Director of Music and Worship in spring of 2022. I love bringing creativity each week in our worship time, incorporating all ages and any instrument. I also love finding a place for all talents in our church to use their gifts for the Glory of God. I live with my husband Josh and our two children Stroud and Libby.

Jana Robertson

Director of Students

I am originally from McDonough, Ga but have lived in Hartsville since 2016. My husband, Jacob and I have 2 children and absolutely love the life that Hartsville provides. God has placed a passion for students in our hearts and we are so blessed to serve the youth at Lakeview.

I grew up as 1 of 5 children of the music minister at our church in Georgia. I said the “salvation prayer” as a young child, but it wasn’t until 9th grade that I really committed my life to Christ at a winter youth camp. Since then, Jesus has revealed himself to me more and more as life throws many curve balls. I look forward to what He has in store next!

I have Ken beat on how many times I’ve been to Chick-Fil-A
