Ken Hughes

Senior Pastor

My family moved to Hartsville in 2001 from the Dallas Ft. Worth area. There, I worked as a bench jeweler where I custom made jewelry for 13 years before being called to full time ministry.

I graduated from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in 2000 with a Master’s degree in Christian Education. I also graduated from Luther Rice Seminary in 2005 with a Master’s degree in Biblical Counseling. I am blessed to be married to my wife Sonya now for 30 years. We have three wonderful children and I love watching them grow up.

I began my ministry at Lakeview in 2001 as the student and recreation minister before being called to the lead pastor position in 2013. My passion in ministry is found in the words Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:12. Paul’s words tell me that it is a pastor’s responsibility is “to equip God’s people to do His work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” I take that responsibility seriously and strive to keep Paul’s words in front of the Lakeview Family.

The vision that I encourage the Lakeview Family to live out is to “Follow Jesus completely and share His love authentically fulfilling the Great Commandment and Great Commission.”

I have a personal goal of seeing how many times a day I can eat at Chick-fil-a.
