“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”Acts 1:8
Missions engagement strategy
Lakeview Baptist has embraced the “Great Commission” of Acts 1:8 as a guiding metaphor for our missions ministry. Just as Jesus instructed his disciples, we are to share the Gospel by going to:
Jerusalem
Judea
Samaria
The Ends of the Earth
We have designed and implemented a Missions Center on our church’s campus. Here, members and others can see on an interactive world map the locations where we have active missionaries or ministries.
Our children’s ministry is actively pursuing the theme of missions in our Sunday night program, where 25+ children have Music and Missions. They are learning about current or past missionaries and do so by crafts and songs.
Our Jerusalem
We have identified our Jerusalem as the Hartsville community as we intentionally serve the people around our city by supporting these ministries or organizations:
Trent Hill Center
Nursing homes
Hartsville Interfaith Ministries
Soup Kitchen
Upward Basketball
Our Judea
We have identified our Judea as the Pee Dee community as we intentionally serve the people around our area by supporting these ministries or organizations:
Disaster Relief
Charleston Intercity & Port Ministries
Myrtle Beach Tourist Ministries
Summer Camps
Migrant Workers
Our Samaria
We have identified our Samaria as the national community of the United States, and we are intentionally involved in the following ways:
Coats for New York
Alaska - Grace Works
Texas - Garden Oaks Baptist
Disaster Relief
Ends of the Earth
We have identified our “ends of the Earth” as the international community as we intentionally serve the people around the world by physically going to these countries, financially supporting missionaries or refugees, and be participating in programs such as Operation Christmas Child:
Romania
Ukraine
Costa Rica
El Salvador
South Korea
Operation Christmas Child

Deborah Guest
I grew up around ministry with my parents as missionaries in South Korea. I came to Hartsville as a result of marrying my husband, Frank, a Hartsville native. We are the parents for four grown children-Carie, Lindsay, Connor and Lane. We are the proud grandparents to our granddaughter, Elora. Frank and I have been members of Lakeview since 1999.
I am a teacher by trade and taught in Charleston and then at North Hartsville Elementary. In 2013, I began working part-time at Lakeview while finishing out a year at NHE. In 2014, I came on staff full-time directing our children’s ministries and our weekday preschool. I have now transitioned into the roll of heading up our women’s and missions ministries as well. If you are looking for me during the week or on Sundays, the education building is your best bet.
